I’m a WAC gal (Woman Army Corps) through and through, and still have many memories from my time stationed in England during WWII. There’s a documentary if you’re interested called Woman Serving in War. I’m sure I’ve bragged just a little bit about this Emmy Award-winning project, and made my family watch it a few times. But here’s another little treasure from those times: a song called “Pallas Athena” that we’d have to sing as we were marching during training. Luckily for all of you, The Pioneer Press recorded me singing it two years ago. Although my voice isn’t quite what it used to be, I’ve still got most of the words down. And that’s after 70 years.
Enjoy and have a wonderful Memorial Weekend!
