What’s more fun than food on a stick at the Minnesota State Fair? Seniors on stage!

Food on a stick, Princess Kay of the Milky Way, the Mighty Midway, the Grandstand, farm animals, and so much more.

It won’t be long until the start of the Minnesota State Fair, or as we like to proudly say in our state, the “Great Minnesota Get-Together.” This year, the State Fair runs August 25 to Labor Day, September 5.

Thursday, September 1 is Seniors Day at the State Fair. On this special day on stage at the Leinie Lodge Bandshell, two Minnesota seniors will be honored with the Outstanding Senior Citizens Award. The award recognizes outstanding senior citizens who have contributed their time and talent to benefit their community after reaching the age of 65. Honorees are chosen out of a pool from nominees submitted from each county in the state to the Minnesota State Fair.

Last year, the Outstanding Senior Citizens Award recipients were from Pennington County and Rice County.

Good luck to all nominees and thanks for all you do in your communities!
