LTCI forums generate discussion with MN candidates

Over the past couple of weeks, the Long-Term Care Imperative held nine legislative candidate forums all across the state. More than 50 candidates for the Minnesota House and Senate took part.

A question that generated good discussion at every forum: what does Minnesota need to do to face severe senior care staffing shortages?

There are currently at least 2,500 vacant positions in nursing homes alone. Over the next decade, we will need another 25,000 professional caregivers in Minnesota, in large part to care for our rapidly growing senior population.

You can see how candidates answered questions in news coverage of the Albert Lea, Faribault, Mankato, and Red Wing forums.

And if you see your candidates campaigning in your community, make sure to ask them how they plan to face aging. You can download and print our handy question sheet so you are ready to ask!
