That’s right, that harbinger of the end of summer, the Minnesota State Fair is now underway! It’s been a Minnesota institution for more than 150 years, but it’s apparently aging well. Attendance records have been set several times in the past few years. This year, there are some new attractions at the Great Minnesota Get-Together. Which of the following new attractions are you most excited to see?:
• Dress A Sheep Contest, where teams of up to four get ten minutes to use their creativity and quick thinking to dress a sheep
• The Great Big Wheel, which, at 15 stories high, is the tallest traveling Ferris wheel in North America
• The Great Minnesota Knit Together located on the Grandstand Ramp
• The Vernada is the perfect place to get a feel of the historic Grandstand heritage, character, and architecture
Make sure you visit the Leinie Lodge Bandshell for the Outstanding Senior Citizens Award on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Two winners will be chosen from nominees in every county in the state. Nominees will be judged based on the impact the nominee has on his or her local community, the diversity of their accomplishments, their dedication to service, and other important factors.
